Cupcakes are my love language

Recently I have started to realize that I often use cupcakes to tell people how much I care about them. So, gone are the days that the languages of affection are limited to physical touch, quality time, and so on...at least one of my love languages is definitely cupcakes. My loved ones are OK with it, I think. : )

You may have noticed that I have added a few pages at the top of the screen: prices, services, flavors, and contact. Take a moment to check these out! Lots of new info - you don't want to miss it!

Alright, now to the fun stuff! Here are some pictures of cupcakes I did this weekend!

Bowling pin cupcakes! For a 7 year old joint birthday party! (notice that the pins all have 7s on them!) These are white cake with vanilla butter cream frosting. Bowling pins are made from fondant. I hand-painted the bowling pins with a food color/water mixture, and sprinkled a tiny bit of edible glitter on top just to be fancy! There is also squiggly paper decoration to add a festive flare! There is a conservative amount of aqua blue sprinkles on top for another textural element.

Bowling balls! These cupcakes are devil's food cake with vanilla butter cream frosting. The bowling balls are made of fondant, colored black. The finger holes on he balls are edible pearls (hard candy consistency). These cupcakes also have a small amount of red sugar sprinkles on top, as well as the squiggly paper on top for more decoration!

Here are some of the cupcakes with the invitation that the moms gave me. Just adorable.
I loved working on these! I had never done bowling cupcakes before and it turned out to be such fun!

Valentine cupcakes! This weekend myself, and some of my friends from childhood got together for a girls' night! I promised them cupcakes - because that's how I show that I care! So since it is almost Valentine's day, I settled on a V-day theme! These are strawberry and white cake with vanilla butter cream. I made little white chocolate roses - as a nod to V-day chocolates. And added a paper heart topper and some edible glitter and pearls to make them even more girly and fancy!

These were super yummy....I took 2 dozen and only came home with 3 cupcakes...way to go girls!

I made the aqua Valentine ones with some extra frosting from the bowling cupcakes and gave them to my little sister and her roommates at college. This was a fun cupcake weekend! Thank you so much for reading, and I hope you enjoyed it!

*Don't forget to take a look at the new pages!*

Have a great (snowy) Monday, fellow Oklahomans! And if you're not reading from Oklahoma, you have a great Monday (any kind you want!), too!

The new and the exciting!

One of the most exciting things about baking cupcakes is trying new techniques and experimenting with new flavors. I am excited to announce that Cupcakey Cakes now has a fantastic dark chocolate cream filling and royal icing glaze. Also, two of my favorite things are cupcakes, and anything miniature. Consequently, mini cupcakes are one of my very favorite things to do - so don't be shy about ordering mini cupcakes in any flavor! If possible, they are cuter than

Cupcakes are IN these days! Partly because of the ease in serving - NO CUTTING CAKE! And partly because they're adorable. I have recently had a few customers ask about how many cupcakes to serve at their event. Here are some helpful hints: One normal sized cupcake (which is one serving size of cake! How convenient!) equals approximately two mini cupcakes. So, when you go to place a cupcake order: 1 for each guest, or double the amount of guests for minis. Keep in mind, this is just a suggestion to make your ordering easier. If you think your event needs more of less of either size, please feel free to order to your heart's content!

Now, here are some pictures of the exciting things I've been working on. I hope you enjoy what you see - and feel free to comment with thoughts or questions.
I always love getting feedback!

Mini devil's food cupcake with (new!) dark chocolate cream filling and the always delicious whipped chocolate butter cream frosting.

Devil's food (Valentine colors for February!) mini cupcake with (new!) royal icing glaze. This is a really tasty option for guests who aren't all that fond of frosting. My mantra is "the more frosting the better" but I aim to please everyone! This is perfect for no or little frosting lovers!

YUM.

Full sized devil's food cupcake with dark chocolate cream filling and whipped chocolate butter cream. I am biased, but you can trust me when I say, it tastes as decadent as it looks!

I leave you with a sweet little quote I saw on Pinterest recently:

"You can't buy happiness, but you can buy cupcakes, and that is kind of the same thing."

Thank you for reading, friends!

Cupcakey Valentine Cakes!

It's Valentine's Day at Cupcakey Cakes! My great friend Ashley (Daly Dose) recently put together this lovely photo shoot. I love the images she captured, and I had such a great time creating these cupcakes. For Valentines day, I chose Red Velvet - of course - with piped vanilla buttercream in pink, white, and red + sweet love and romance themed decorations to celebrate the day!

The cupcakes below were for a sweet little girl's 1st birthday! No better way to celebrate such a milestone than with cupcakes! Her Dr. Suess "Thing 1" themed party was adorable, and it was fun to be a part of it!

I hope all you Cupcakey Cakes customers and readers are having a nice winter season! If you're a local Oklahoman and you are interested in cupcakes for your next event please e-mail your orders or questions to cupcakey.cakes@yahoo.com or message Cupcakey Cakes on Facebook.

Happy Valentine's Day - love someone!

Holiday projects

Holidays bring with them the undeniable excuse to enjoy all kinds of wonderful treats! My favorite Christmas desserts are, of course, cupcakes! There are many ways to make the always festive cupcake more than appropriate for holiday get-togethers! Here are few designs and flavors that worked for me.

Back right: german chocolate chocolate chip cupcake with whipped chocolate butter frosting and chocolate chip garnish. Middle left: peppermint chip cupcake with peppermint swirl buttercream frosting and a whole peppermind garnish.
